Yeah, I saw that. I think it's too bad we're all going to lose our green dots and everyone will look like a newby. There's been quite the discussion in the announcement thread. A lot of people throwing tantrums about it, which is a bit over the top, to me. It is what it is. Last minute reps to everyone!

Yeah, I'm not losing sleep over it, but I do like the fact that the reps system includes creating a comment that goes with the rep. I think that's better than a simple "like".
Just for the record, when I hover over Abe's rep dots, it says "Abe has a superb reputation".
Ha, this thread will stay in the archive now, long after the reps system is gone.

I agree with PJ. The opportunity to post a personal comment with a rep was something unique, and a feature I will miss. Most social media platforms use "Likes". I liked the fact that we were a little different. It isn't so easy to earn reps, and I think it was a motivator for our members to make their replies, if not especially helpful, then at least entertaining or interesting. I don't think "Likes" are going to be as effective.
If we were voting, I'd vote to keep the rep system, but I guess no one asked for our opinion--which is too bad--because it's our "clicks" that generates the cash around here.
