How level does trailer need to be

So I was setting up my hitch and based on the adjustability of the shank I’m either 1 inch nose high or 1 inch low on a 21ft 5k travel trailer.

I feel like I’m worrying about something that just doesn’t matter enough to make a difference since I’m so under capacity of my truck.

Given the choice, I’d go for 1” low in the nose.

if that is all you can do, then that is all you can do.

set it as best you can, take it for a drive to verify and then spend time worrying about bigger issues.

Yep, trailer tongue a little low is much better than any amount of high.

Agreed, a nose high configuration induces unwanted sway, where a low nose helps to mitigate it.

I agree with others, best level or nose low. That said, If I pulled my trailer and it was an inch high, and it pulled absolutely fine, and I had plenty of pulling and payload leftover, I'd scratch my head if readjust was necessary. I tweaked my head a bit with the tilt, the one for the bars, and dialed it in perfectly staying within spec with the bars and chains. I actually like it this way because as it turns out, If I throw a couple totes of firewood in the front door of TT, I simply change my typical link on the chain and it helps compensate for the extra tongue weight.

With a WDH, I will configure it to be slightly nose down before the spring bars are added. The spring bars usually bring the nose up to about level.

Like you, my truck is well over spec for trailer so when setting up the WDH , I simply measured some return weight to front axle and eyeballed the rest.
