What was big the difference in temps? Before and after, load, oil type, speed, ambient conditions?
Not a scientific lab test, lol. I will put my hand on my trailer hubs every couple weeks after towing to see how hot they get, a great way to catch a problem before they start. So I went under my truck and put my hand on the rear pumkin, basically to hot to touch. After the oil and cover I can put my hand on the pumkin with no problem with the same tow load. Used 90-140w syn oil.
Load is 12k-19k behind truck.

This is a terrible evaluation of an aluminum finned diff cover versus the diff oem cover. I agree that the aluminum finned cover will run cooler than the oem cover, but to state 'it made a big difference' with no real data to back it up is just blowing smoke. Personally, I could not make that kind of statement. There are millions of trucks pulling heavy with oem steel covers with no failures because they are running an oem steel cover. I am sure your cover looks nice though.

Wow, triggered much? Don't be a little bitch on the forums. Don't ask questions if you just want to fight.

No, I am not triggered, I only asked for proof and data to back up your statement of 'made a big difference', which you could not do. Maybe that is why you are offended? Your data is 'when I put my hand on the pumpkin it was to(o) hot to touch' and 'I can put hand on it with no problems'. And this is your great conclusion that aluminum finned diff covers 'make a big difference'? I agree they make a small difference, just not a big difference, and not enough to justify that everyone who 'tows heavy' needs one. I view this forum as a great resource for technical reference, as opposed to FB pages where comments like yours may never be questioned and then believed. I never meant to offend you, you must be in the generation where everyone received a trophy, win or lose.
I used the lube locker and ordered the aluminum cover below off amazon,
Dorman 697-725 Differential Cover for Select Ford Models
Made a big difference in temp on the rear axle as I tow very heavy and every day. Might not make a real difference in the long run, but I feel better about it, lol.

Are you reading something different than I am? I dont see anywhere in his post where he stated or implied that everyone who tows heavy needs one. He simply shared his observation, based on his hand on experience, that there was a big temperature difference. Why is that unbelievable? Why would he need to provide additional data, this that and the other? He's not selling the product, pushing it, telling you or anyone else that they need it. Infact he says, "Might not make a real difference in the long run, but I feel better about it, lol"
