I have a 1996 F250 4x4 with a 460 in it. I bought a AutoMeter Tach for the truck becuase there was not one in the dash from the factory.
I ran all the wires and then taped the green wire off the tach into the negitive side of the coil like the instructions said but tach wont work. Tach lights up fine and does turn off but no RPM display. Is there a tach adapter on a stock ford truck somewhere? If so where is it.
umm i hooked up a tach to my F150 recently i cant vouch that your wiring setup will be the same but i'll give it a shot. Make sure you got a good ground, hook your 12V(red) to a switched power like your stereo or something that can be turned off via your ignition. dimmer i used my dimmer from my stereo since its not used on my deck and for the green wire(signal) i hooked it up with a wire tap to the green wire with the gold tracer on it on the coil plug. My truck has the 302 just for reference also check to see if your tach is set to 8cyl. Hope this
