i have a 2012 eco boost, i did a fuel injection flush last week and noticed my fuel economy dropped almost a full gallon per mile. what are the odds i fouled out a plug or possibly did some damage to a turbo? if anyone has had this happen feed back would be greatly appreciated!
I could be very wrong but I don't think they recommend doing any kind of fuel treatments or injection flushes on the Ecoboost. They are a direct injection engine and the chemicals can be very bad for the turbos? I have always used good fuel from Shell, Chevron, ect and make sure I let it eat every once in a while to keep it blown out. I also have read where changing the plugs every 30,000 miles or so is best on these engines, maybe it's just time? There very easy to change BTW. Boots need to be changed when the plugs are changed also.
being a GDI engine the injectors dont get a "constant" washing effect like the port style injection thats the only reason i did it. ive only had the truck for 2 weeks got from auction. has anyone ever tried the E3 tri spark, spark plugs before?
Vehicle information ... Miles? Maintenance? Modifications? Cab? Drive? etc., etc., etc.. *All (+more) factors that contribute to MPG.
And ... EcoBoost is an engine not a model, trim, etc. descriptor.
Put your complete vehicle information (year, model, cab, trim, engine, wheelbase, _x4 drive, mileage, modifications, etc., etc.) in your signature -OR- provide it in your posting(s).
I I have always used good fuel from Shell, Chevron, ect .
Agree. always use good gas like Chevron. When I traded my '01 Screw 5.4 @ 275K+ , it never had a CEL and still OEM cats. Friend has a Harley and goes cross country, uses Chevron and carries Techron with him.
Since you got it from auction and you don't know the history, I think it would be good to do the "maintenance" items.
. . . costs a little though.

Reason: add info
Great Video, watched and immediately went out to the truck and checked all of mine. To town for a can of cleaner now, They're dirty for sure. Thanks for tip!
Updated 2 hours later: Not sure if it will make as big as a difference for you as it did for me but I am impressed. I disconnected the battery so it would relearn after the cleaning and I got what I felt like was a smoother cold start up idle right off the bat. I have fought a rough cold start up idle for a while now. I changed PCV valves trying both the black and the newer brown one and didn't really see a change. I do have a catch can now but I'm sure that sensor on the intake got very oily pre catch can. Easy to clean and even if it's a placebo effect I am still happy with the results. Well worth the $9 can of MAF cleaner (still plenty in the can for future cleans). Good luck on yours's.
