I have about 102,000 miles on my 2012 F150 SCREW 4x4 and figured it was a good time to replace/upgrade my shocks and struts. Like everyone else, I don't want to dump a boatload of money into the truck. I do very little towing and want to keep a level stock-ish truck. I have a strut spacer on it now to keep it level.
That being said, I've been looking at the Rough Country N3 shocks with the N3 coil over struts. They seem to be the best I've seen for quality and price point at $450.
Wondering what yalls thoughts are on them and other brands/models.
At 80,000 miles on my 2013 Ecoboost Lariat Screw I went with the complete Bilstein 5100 set leveling set. My wife who rarely says anything about my truck was very quick to mention that the truck was quieter and rode much smoother. The OEM stuff was very flat with no life left in them at 7 years old. I would do that swap again in a heartbeat. Price was good too.
I did reuse the stock coil springs. If you get the ones with the springs it should save you a lot of headache. Compressing the springs can be dangerous if you don't have the right tools so an assembled set would be great. I don't think I ever saw that set or I probably would have went it. I set the struts to the 3rd ring and it basically leveled the truck perfectly. They are a quality set, I read hundreds of reviews between those and the Ranchos and finally decided on them. Glad I did, very satisfied.
