They are terrible, however unlike the previous generation there is a nice fix. For our trucks our fab shop has been buying 2" x 8" angle aluminum in 1/4" and cutting the tailgate pattern into it. It follows the line of the tailgate exactly where the old one was. It is held on using the two outer tailgate screws and VibraTite grey rtv. These things haven't failed us yet. Skip the Line X, we tried and it doesn't last.

I don't currently have any, haven't been home in a few weeks. I will try and take a picture when I am at the yard. The piece is dead simple to do and the tailgate shape really works well for this.
