So I drug this home on Good Friday, and the wife named her "Lucky". Partially because the last person who titled her had the last name of Lucky, and mainly because she's lucky not to be in a scrapyard somewhere by now. 1964 F100 with a 292, appears to be correct by warranty plate. Seller threw in a "new carb" he had just bought for the truck, no mfg, part #, stampings whatsoever other than a box marked "Made in China" - wreaks of Amazon to me. That doesn't sit too well with me, dropping Chinese parts on a '60's vehicle, so I'm looking for an original 2 barrel for the truck to see if she'll run. Anyone here have a 2 barrel laying around they would like to sell, or suggestions on where to find one? I'd just as soon buy one that needs rebuilding, so I know where I stand when it's bolted on.
Finding an original 292 carb that is rebuildable may be a little difficult. All the 2100's use the same rebuild kits the differences are in the venturi sizes, idle air bleeds and jets.
I have read of other members using early 289 carbs with good results. But if you don't even know if it will run you should go ahead and use the carb you have. Because a 57 year old truck, "regardless of what the PO said" probably has a lot of other things that will need fixed first.
The Ebay one listed for a 65-66 is from a 352FE, they don't work well on a Yblock 292, been there and tried that in the past. One for a 289 works pretty good but they aren't set up for a manual choke, or not one I could find.
According to the 65 shop manual that e-bay carb has 1-7/16 throttle bore, 1.145 venturi and 52 jets. I don't have a 64 manual to compare the specs but I think a 292 carb would be smaller.
There are several reputable “refurbishers” of the Autolite 2100/4100 carbs, some sell on eBay as well. Before they went belly- up, I had bought at very good prices ,carbs done by Pony Carbs, they were unbelievable quality. Had them on my 59 F250, on a 65 Fairlane, and I have one on my spares shelf that will work for my 66 F250, when and if the need arises.
There are others, a quick Google search will list recommendations from various Ford related forums. Some will refurbish your carb, if possible. Good luck.
Thank you to all who responded. My folks and grandparents had a couple farm trucks with 292's back when I was a kid, and when I spoke with Mom yesterday she started digging around the garage and found 3 carbs so far. Dad says there's a couple more "good" ones in a cabinet if I can dig back that far.
I'm toying with the idea of just jerking the engine and tearing it down from the get go, but curiosity is getting the better of me and I'm wondering if she'll fire as is. Time will tell.
Good deal. It pays to save. I would suggest you use a 1 gallon can for fuel and not the in cab tank until you can get the tank out to inspect it. Unleaded fuel can make a real mess in there if it has sat very long. Lacquer thinner is the best thing I have used to dissolve gummy fuel residue followed with some phosphoric acid to get rid of the rust.

Being that there is currently no fuel tank on the truck, I'll be using your suggestion by default! LOL.
I just scrapped a '95 F350 and am trying to decide whether to buy an original style tank for behind the seat, or use the aft-axle plastic tank from it and mount it in the bed enclosed in a wooden or aluminum structure to disguise it. I'm cheap.
