Smile New Bronco Owner

Hello All,
I just purchased a 95 Bronco this weekend to go with my
faithful 95 F350. Man I love this thing! It has a few minor
problems. The first being that when I bought it this weekend the
air conditioner worked fine. The other day it stopped blowing out
the vents. When selected to air or max air it blows out the floor.
The defrost still blows out the defrost, but the a/c only blows out the floor. Any ideas? The second problem is that it leaks water inside when raining. I notice it coming in at the rear ashtrays in the rear on both sides abd the carpet in the sides beside/behind the front seats. I think it is the seal around the top. If so how difficult is it to remove & replace?

Thanks in Advance,
Mike

There is a vacuum line under the dash (blue/white) if I am recalling correctly that is notorious for coming apart from the clear connector that its supposed to be attached to. Might check there first.

As to the water leak(s) if you are certain they are from the top and not cracks at the ends of the rain gutters then removing the top is relatively simple. There is only one seal as it were. It runs across the top rear of the steel portion of the roof just under the fiberglass top. Down lower just above the corners where your leak appears to be, there are two 1" wide strips of self stick foam but they are more for vibration dampening.

To remove the top you will need a philips screwdriver (for the trim across the ceiling), a T-50 Torx driver (seat belt shoulder harness), and the odd one, a T-40 tamper-proof Torx driver for the bolts that hold the top to the body. (Autozone, NAPA, and the major parts retailers should carry the tamper-proof bits either singly or in sets). If you can't locate one, your other option is to break the center pins out of the bolts and use a regular T-40 Torx driver. The seal itself is a push-on rubber seal with a metal reinforced channel. Removal and installation are simple once the top is off. Pull the old one off and push the new one on.

Couple of things to keep in mind when removing the top. All of the interior trim between the top and body must be removed. Don't forget the connector at the driver's rear corner that connects the high-mount stop and courtesy lamps in the top. When you have the hardware removed you must lift the top UP first as there are guide pins into the bed rails. The top can be removed by one person but if its your first time, I would recommend getting an extra pair of hands to assist.

Check for cracks just behind the rain gutters.

As for removal of the top, try (the gasket should be pretty simple)

enter your info, then...

click body and trim
click exterrior
then bronco fiberglass roof

Thanks,
I do have large cracks along both rain gutters and it
makes sense that the leak is coming from there since it doesnt look like the top was ever removed. Any idea what causes these cracks? Also, what would be the best caulk or silicone to use
to patch these up?

Body flex is about the only thing anyone I have ever talked to can come up with as to why. There isn't much in the way of gusseting or internal support in the "B" pillars so most assume that that has a lot to do with it. As for something to seal the cracks. I have used the caulk/body filler used on seams and joints in body panels with good results. The stuff hardens when it cures but not so much that its going to crack again under extreme temperature changes. Others may have good suggestions on this one too.
