I have reinstalled the NP435 in my 72 F100. I know the speedo connection. I also plugged in the 2 prong connection on the side. Does anyone know what the threaded post connection is for on the top of the tranny? I cannot seem to find the wire for this.
Ok I know the speedo but the other 2 you say you have don't jive with mine?
This 2 prong connection on the side do you have a picture of this?
The only 2 prong I have is on the top in the shift tower for the back up light plug.
It is the red part in the lower center of the picture below.
The front of trans is to the left, you are looking at the left side of the trans. That is an advance Adaptor over drive in front of the NP435
I also don't know what this "threaded post connection is for on the top of the tranny" you talk of as I don't have that on mine.
BTW my BW T18 has the same connections in almost the same place as the NP435 as I did the swap from T18 to the NP435.
So get pictures of the 2 connections so we can see what you got.

Here's the only pic I have my trans. You can see the red connector, this is what I call the 2 prong. There is also the black with bronze pin. This is the one I do not have a wire for.
Does that piece thread out of the tranny to get a look at what it is? I dont have a np435 but the only other thing on my T18 is a small spring loaded breather cap.
It is a " transmission spark control switch". 1972 was the first year for it. Talk about pulling something out of the spider webs in the way far back of my mind. Spark control as in engine ignition spark. What it was intended to do I dunno. Was part number D2TZ7E440A later replaced by E0TZ7E440A. I don't have an Ford engineering number (stamping number) cross reference microfische slide old enough to know for sure. But your switch should be stamped something like D2TE7E440AA.
Wow, thanks for th detailed response. Do you know that wire connects to? I can’t seem to find the wire for this. Would lie to know where the wire goes to.
That is also part of the spark control system. One of it's vacuum hoses would have gone to the Dizzy. I don't know what Ford's purpose was for this system. Too much has changed since 1972. Like our current gasoline. I would just delete this system . But keep the parts just in case you are chasing a spark knock in the future.
Other manf. IIRC also used a spark control on their motors.
I want to say it would retard timing by blocking off or bleeding off vacuum to the dist advance unit.
It was used to meet smog regs back then.
Unless going for 100% restore most just remove it as Jeff said.
