Spark Plugs
I'm looking for the porcelain puller tool now. So far the only one I've found is the one that comes with the Matco Tools, 3 VALVE TRITON BROKEN SPARK PLUG SET. (Part No. BPR4) $159.00
And there's no way I'm going to pay that for a tool that will use one time, then never again.
I can get the kit as a loaner tool but it doesn't include the Porcelain Puller.
Anyone got any leads to where I could get the Porcelain Puller?
I got the plugs from Amazon for $62.00 (set of 8) and they are legit.
Also bought a set of DeWALT tools... normally I buy Craftsman, and used to be a die hard "Klein Tools Fan" until they changed their "Lifetime" warranty to mean "The lifetime of the tool" and gave each tool an expected life span... and if it broke after the expected life span, they would not cover it with any warranty... so I moved on from them for personal tools.
But I read Dewalt's warranty and it's true "Lifetime" and they are about one-third the price of Craftsman. So...
Well, I'm back. Ha! Thought you got rid of me didn't ya? Well, I'm the "Bad Penny" they warned you about.
After a couple of surgeries, I was finally able enough to tinker on the truck.
I ended up buying the plug extractor kit from amazon. I paid about $94.00 for it, but I needed it.
I knew that I can't bend my back, or move my neck much, and the brilliant idea the to lay this plank across the engine bay. So, I built the plank.
Then I padded it with a thick blanket and used a rolled-up pillow to support my neck as I lay on my side.
It worked like a champ. Once I got in the right position, I didn't know if I wanted to work on the truck or take a nap, it was so comfortable.
But I did manage to get three of the sparkplugs out that weren't firing, and that was a 90% improvement.
Then It turned cold and my body refused to move. Then I caught Covid... I got over it pretty well. A lot better than I would have thought, with all my underlying health problems.
So, anyway, here I am and I plan on working some more to change the rest of the plugs, as it warms up and before it gets too hot.
I have an overheating issue which I'll post about on another thread.
I watched several Youtube videos on using this plug extractor kit, and man it works perfectly as advertised. I greased up the threads of the porcelain puller threads each time I used it.
And it is still sharp. I hope I can get the other 5 plugs out without needing to order another one.
Here are a couple of pictures to better explain what I made.
If you look at most of the Chapter forums, We are all listed as "Bad pennies" and keep on showing up! LOL
