Has anyone had any experience with the 100 w replacement lamps for the Expedition? I have heard that they may melt the wiring. This is NOT what I want when I am in the woods at night with the family!
2001 Exp 4x4.
Sorry for the multiple posts, but I have MANY questions and did not see comps (except the tires) in the postings.
Even with the 100w bulbs you can still out drive them. They cover basicly the same area, just alot brighter. The 100w drivers really brighten things upon a dark back road.
FWIW, I couldn't see chit while driving at night so I put some little fog PIAA's (I think they are 1450's) up front and can't believe how much light they added. There's a reason PIAA's are so expensive.
No kidding, I added PIAA's 520's or were they 580's, I can't remember. What a difference. As far as the fogs go I was only able to find 50w bulbs to replace the stock 27's. The ones I have now do not have the mirrored surface at the tip of the bulb so they end up shining out the front as opposed to all light coming off the reflector.
Do you recal the manufacturer and number of the 100w fogs you got? Also, what did you use for you main headlights. (I'm assuming they are the same for my 2K Navi)
I just went out in th POURING RAIN to check the bulbs. All they say on the back is Sylvania 100w They are a blue color, but when they are on the light is white. I took them to the local parts store and matched them up with the highest wattage bulb with the same connection.
