Lets talk 4x4 issues

2001 Ford F150
VIN 1FTRW08L41KA19080
New Transfer Gearbox Motor installed and tested from connector (Money not well spent)
Symptoms:
in Drive no motion
Break Pedal Engaged
Turn Selector Switch to 4H

Relays on transfer case relay module click 4 times then stop
Must turn off engine and wait
Start Engine and in Drive no motion
Break Pedal Engaged
Turn Selector Switch to 4H
Relays on transfer case relay module click 4 times then stop

never engages 4L and no 4L indicator light

Possible culprits
1. Transfer case relay module
2. Transfer Case Switch
3. Vacuum Solenoid Valves

Based on your experience which is the most likely culprit
I need to know where to start
Thanks

the front axle vacuum system has nothing to do with this.. Lets say you are in HI range.. You shift to 4H and the light on the dash comes on after the shift motor moves to that position.. there is a SWITCH that closes by the shift motor that sends a signal to the front vacuum solenoids to shift the front axle..AFTER everything happens with the transfer case.. When you shift to 4L, same thing... CLUNK, then the light comes on at dash saying you are in 4L ... and signal to the vacuum system.

If you are not getting the 4L or 4H signals, it can be BINDING in the transfer case, BINDING in the motor / arm... or electrical problem.. Probably best to pull the motor and set it on a bucket under the truck and plug in the harness.. Move the dash **** and see if the motor strokes FULL TRAVEL both directions.. You can also move the INTERNALS manually with the motor off and see if mechanically everything INSIDE is moving.

So I removed the new motor, got an exchange indicating it was bad.
I connected it up, left it off the case and tried to engage the 4H
The motor never moved.
I rotated the shaft in the transfer case and it was fine
SO that eliminates the motor, lets move on
Again

Relays on transfer case relay module click 4 times then stop
Motor never moves
Its like the module is working but no power is coming out of the module

so does it travel full stroke and move the internals all the way and contact the SWITCH at the end of travel ? Did you move the internals MANUALLY and see that everything is OK without the case motor ?
