fwiw, best way to catch it early is carry a thermal gun and check all 4 every now and again when you pull over.
I check rotors, diff, hubs, ect every time i stop when I am towing, easy way to catch trailer axle failures before they happen.
you can find cheaper temp guns but I have forund them to be inconsistent and wonky, I like my tools to work when I need them.
