Upgrades/maintenance while transmission is out??
I'll soon be taking the 4R100 out of my excursion for a pump seal replacement. While the transmission is out, what upgrades or maint items should I be considering? The truck has 105k miles on it and only 40k on the 4R100HD.
Current plans while transmission is out:
Up pipes
Reseal manifolds with gaskets
Tap manifold for EGT (currently post turbo)

Turbo V-Band Clamp https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/up-pi...o-clamp-99-07/

Exhaust Mani Gasket https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/exhau...et-94-03-7-3l/

Any other jobs I should consider doing "While I am at it"? Any other parts I need?
I never replace the v-band clamps.
Are your exhaust manifolds leaking?? They almost certainly will if you install exhaust manifold gaskets.
Check out the write-up for how I do up-pipes and turbo mods if you haven’t yet.

If that is a Ford transmission, shouldn’t it be under warranty???
Also, remove clamps from fuel lines in valley.
You may consider upgrading compressor wheel while turbo is out.
And paint. VHT flameproof (2000*) on carbon steel hot parts. I use rustoleum 2x coverage stuff on everything else. Surface prep is the key to success. Clean (100% grease and oil free) is mandatory. Do not use a wire wheel - this spreads surface contamination and leaves a smooth surface that is harder for paint to bond to.
