Jeep Forum?

Hey y’all totally off topic but my little sister has a Jeep, (1999 TJ) and she is just getting old enough to start turning wrenches on her own and I’m trying to find her a good forum she can join, not like most “wanna-be mechanic” forums but one like this!
So I’m sure some of y’all SD guys have Jeeps, is there a good forum you can recommend?!

I won't endorse it, because I efn hate jeeps, but I've found lostjeeps.com more useful than others when trouble shooting my daughters Liberty CRD. And who you calling a wanna be mechanic? I change my own oil, and one time my wiper blades were bad, did that myself,. Lost my whole Saturday, but you can eat off that windshield now buddy.

I always appreciate hearing of youngens wanting to be like regular people. You know, wanting to work on their own stuff, wanting to know what guns are best for their situation, etc. Even more so when it's a female (if we're still allowed to use that word). Good on her for going there and good on you for helping her out.

Well thank you for the compliments!
She had been saving up for a Jeep for years and we found a 99, bone stock. 5 miles from our house with 60k miles! She had enough money after she dickered the lady down to a fair price and then she had a Jeep but still years away from having a license
Now that she can drive she is having fun with it!
Its sad the way kids now days don’t have a clue about the greater things in life. It’s a dying breed I suppose.

How did she earn enough money to buy a Jeep, before having a license? Jeeps are expensive in my area.

Well our family owns a restaurant. Family owned and operated only. Me and my three younger sisters were homeschooled and have worked in our restaurant since we could walk and talk! When a 5yo little girl comes up to your table and asks if the food was good, they tend to tip pretty well! So that’s how she saved up her money!

LOL, Good for her! Learning to haggle is truly a lost art!

I recently made an offer on an item on CL, drove 2 hours with the trailer and made him a reasonable offer. Considering the item had been for sale for almost 6 weeks it’s was obviously over priced and still for sale but he wouldn’t budge. I literally showed him the $9K and told him that was my offer...NOPE he wouldn’t budge off $9700! He called me 8days later and said, ok, I’ll take $9k. I chuckled on the phone and said, uh, that was the my old offer. I’ll give you $8k because you’re jerking me around, then said, you walked away from $9000 because you wanted an extra $700….

The item is STILL for sale...9 weeks now!

Dang that sucks! Guess he’d rather sit on it forever!
So my old man taught me that the one who names a price first usually looses... “What will you take?” vs “I’ll give you X” if he says something higher than you were going to ask you can always ask after he tells you what he’ll take. But there’s a chance he’ll go further down that you thought right off the bat!

‘Yup.

One of the most important things to effectively haggle...state your offer and shut the hell up! Too many people make an offer, and as the seller is thinking it over in their head, the buyer starts talking or makes another offer. Just shut up and let the person talk themselves into accepting your offer.
