My wife was driving our truck with the 5th wheel today she took a sharp turn and the trailer took out the back window. It doesn’t appear to have any damage other than the window.
We have State Farm and glass coverage is normally considered a comprehensive claim with zero deductible in Florida.
Does anyone have experience that this would be a comprehensive claim or not?
Might have better luck with the RV/5th wheel forums. Likely more prevalent with them. Sorry to see that, but it happens quite frequently with the short bed trucks.
Been using an Andersen for 4 years now. I restrict turning to 75 degrees but wife was not abiding by that and turned hard right on uneven ground and the RV front cap made contact with the back window.
She learned a lesson. Hopefully she won’t get spooked by this and continue to drive.
That’s my plan. I’ll call him first thing Monday morning. This happened on a Saturday so I couldn’t call him today. That’s why I posted here.
I'm on first name basis with the agent. I was one of his first clients when he started 40 years ago and I’ve been with him since. His son is his office manager and they always treated me right and gave me good advice. My only reluctance is we had a claim in November where SF paid out over $60,000 in collision and medical bills claim due to a uninsured driver running a red light and totaling our 2019 Nissan.
If this will not be a comprehensive claim I’ll not report it and pay it out of pocket. Safelight online quote is $695 and collision deductible is $1,000. If it qualifies for Comprehensive I’ll get it to the Ford dealer.
Which fifth wheel do you have? I have a friend that is getting a short bed truck. I'm sending him the picture from this thread as a warning. He has a Goosebox, not the Andersen. I don't know if that will matter, but the RV might.

Weve been towing a Grand Design Reflection 337RLS for 4 years with the Andersen without incident. I can get at least 75 degrees of turn safely. My wife was driving today and she wasn’t watching how much turn she input. She won’t do that again.

Most of the newer 5th wheel trailers have extended the king pin box out and rounded or clearanced the corners of the trailer to accommodate short beds. Exceptions would be length and weight. There are also sliding 5th wheel hitches in the bed, but still have limitations.
I was carrying a half pallet of pressed logs in an old truck I had, and the front stack came loose and top row wen through the back window. This was covered by SF under the glass section, $100 deductible and my rates did not go up. This was almost 20 years ago though. I have had SF for over 30 years and with the same agent now for over 20 years.

You may want to have an "off the record" chat with your agent first. I began a claim with Liberty Mutual for a minor incident where the side of the bed on my 2017 F 250 brushed my own mailbox from someone (not me) turning too short.
When I found out what the repair price was going to be I withdrew the claim and paid out of pocket. Didn't matter. LM noted it and now it's an "at fault" accident hung on me for the proscribed period.
I've since dropped LM because they refused to pay on a full glass coverage claim, stating that it was due to "age and use" for the rear hatch of my 2002 Explorer. Found better coverage for about $400 a year lower anyway.
