Hi, my father's V6 engine is dead (200.000 miles) and needs rebuilding (1998 F-150 XLT)
I have the opportunity to buy another V6, same year (98), with 1.000 original miles (before a crash). Very good price on it.
The only difference is that my father's is an automatic, and the other is a manual stick (from an XL).
Is it a direct swap, or do I need special hardware?
Good question...isn't the stick basically into the tranny? I'm not much of a tech genius, but stick around, you'll get the question answered. Also, I'd ask this same question in the performance, tuning forum.
the engine blocks are the same so just swap the tranny out...it should bolt right up you will have to transfer the torque converter / flywheel over to this engine and you shouldnt have 1 problem
