That's not a good first post to start off with OP...sorry about your luck!
It's actually been a while since I've hit a deer. The last one ran into the side of me, dented the bedside in, and shat all down the rear quarter panel. Killed it. Big doe.
Here lately, I've been pretty good about getting a 'coon or possum every week or two. I messed up a month ago and nailed a 'coon with my "new" car. Did you know that cars sit pretty low to the ground? That 'coon destroyed my bumper
I did that last October, and went with an aftermarket bumper from SteelCraft. It was actually cheaper as all those plastic bits are expensive and add up. Be sure to check the AC system behind the bumper as mine was damaged as well.
I would never put a minor accident like that through insurance. You'll end up paying for it five times in increased premiums.
Ditto.
Am I missing something in the pic? I barely see much damage.
I would leave it as it, maybe try and wedge the plastic back in and then in a year or so think about an aftermarket bumper with a deer guard
They don't make steel bumpers like they used to. If the bumper was a couple of gauges thicker than foil, it probably would have been fine and also saved some of the plastic bits too.

The bumper is bent down along with a lot of the plastics clips broken. After getting home last night from work, the drivers side of the grill is loose and so is the drivers side headlight. Headlight itself does not seem cracked, however not sure if any of the mounts or brackets are broken.
I have an appointment at the repair shop tomorrow for a quote.
For me, spending the $250 on the deductible and getting the 2 month old $60k truck fixed is the right way to do it.
I'll give an update once i hear about the availability for parts.
Yeah, a deer ran into my truck from the side. Passenger door, suicide door, and bed side. Bed side skin went on back order. Seven weeks before my truck was fixed. $6K.
It happens unfortunately. Last night coming home from church, saw 5 of them right on the side of the road!
My wife in 2006 while not a deer hit, was rear ended sitting still and the other driver was going about 50 mph at impact! Put the entire trunk into the back seat! Did I mention the car was only two months old! Toyota Avalon that was about $40k! Total loss.......got a 2007 identical to it for cheaper! Made a few dollars but not worth it.
