Anyone ever have the fuel filter hose closest to the front of the engine pop off partially and pour out tons of fuel. Got a low fuel pressure warning and smelt fuel. Pulled over right away fuel was pouring out from under the truck. Pushed connector back in and fixed it, maybe..?
I pushed it back on and it clicked like it was seated just like it did when it was originally installed, and its not leaking at all now, but can pull back on it and it moves back and forth slightly maybe 1/8" or so.
This was a cheapy (25$) amazon China fuel filter kit that looked identical to all the Motorcraft filters I've used up to this point. I knew I should stick to motorcraft, dang it... lol The filter was changed about 1000 miles ago and seemed fine, no leaks, till this happened a few days ago.
What ya think, a problem with the hose connector fitting or the fuel filter stub connector..?

I always stick with the Motorcraft filter set FD-4615. I normally buy at Amazon but I'm looking to stock up on some stuff at dieselfiltersonline.com once the stimulus comes in.
The fact that it failed did you a great service. These systems are too expensive to cheap out.
The OEM kit even comes with a little connector to help secure that fuel line.
Never saw that little connector you speak of..? Must not be in the $55 aftermarket Motorcraft FD-4615 kit from Amazon that I've bought many times.
I'm guessing its in the oem kit from the Ford dealership..? What does that connector look like..?
You're right, fuel systems are to expensive to cheap out. I knew this, but couldn't resist the $25 identical looking filter kit for the old truck. We all make mistakes, glad this didn't end in a fire ball....
My big concern was fire. So much fuel poured out onto the engine must have been 5+ gallons in just a matter of minutes till I realized what was happening. Fuel was pouring out from under the truck when I stopped, with a massive fuel trail left behind me. Was thinking the valley that the turbo is in probably filled up up with fuel and that turbo gets pretty hot, not sure if its hot enough to ignite the fuel, but it seemed like a real fire hazard possibility.. I sprayed water everywhere in the engine compartment trying to clean all the spilled fuel out, lots of water... Truck still smells like diesel when you walk by the front drivers side. Going to gunk it down after the new filter is put on.
Hoping it didn't run long enough with low fuel pressure to damage the high pressure pump. The low fuel pressure light briefly went on for just a few seconds till I shut it down...
So, my saving 25$ on this filter kit wasn't exactly what I bargained for...
A H&S aftermarket aluminum filter housing that uses screw on $10 Wix/Baldwin filters is on the way to me. Never liked that plastic filter.
I've seen that. Nice set up. But IMO it makes absolutely no sense to have to pay for two filters and buy another filter because you're not going to use the HPFP filter. I guess some guys like spending extra money.

8$ for the spin on HP engine bay Wix fuel filter and $16 for this AFE quality frame mount filter. Thats under $25 for both filters, " I guess some guys like spending extra money" and playing with those cheesy push button fuel line connectors...
I myself, would much rather lift up the H&S filter cap, spin off the little Wix filter, prime the new Wix filter full with ATF and spin it on. No priming needed for the engine bay filter plus HPF pump gets a blast of lubrication...
Hello allcool. I had t your truckhe same thing happen to me. I am assuming that your truck did not catch fire. I gave it a simple green wash and rinse. How long before your truck quit smoking? Thanks, Dave

What Overkill was referring to is the fact that you can't buy the tank mounted filter for the 2017+ separately. So you have to buy a kit that includes both filters and then also buy the aftermarket spin-on. Also consider that the micron rating for that aftermarket spin-on is not as good as the OEM.

I seem to have caught it before any fire or smoke. But was amazing to see how much fuel got all over my engine bay.... Don't think it got on my exhaust since i caught it/shut it down almost immediately.
No egr (or dpf) on my engine, so not nearly as much heat in my engine bay as before deletion, huge difference. Maybe why there was no smoke/fire..?
Did a careful low pressure wash a few times, to get the fuel smell gone...
