E brake questions

1978 f150 reg cab, long box, 4x4, np435

I am in need of a parking brake. I have the pedal assembly in my truck but no cables.

1. Do I only need rear cables to my drum brakes?
Use case. Boat launch.
2. I'd this something I can pull from a salvage yard and get a useable part?
Everything under wisconsin trucks is rusty!
3. Can I take from later model year trucks of same wheel base or must it come from a 78?
4. Would it be best to just order new parts?
Cost vs headache. I need everything between the pedal assembly and the drums.

Thanks for any input,
Adam

Personally I would choose point 4 and install 3 new cables :

Yep what 6by8 said....save yourself the headache and get new cables!

Where you at in WI?

I brought my truck back from NV so no rust issues per say to deal with. I’ve got a 77 Shortbox.

I'm in central wisconsin.

I'm going to grab the metal linkages from the junkyard and get new lines.
I figure the little metal parts can either be salvaged or used as a template to make new. $40ish from lmc for those pieces.

I have contact info for a guy (have to look it up) that is just West of Wausau. Has quite of bit of Ford truck parts of these years. I’ve gotten a few things from him and his prices are reasonable.

You say central WI? Like around Steven’s Point? I go thru SP about every two weeks on the way to our place up North.

If you want that guys contact information I have it on my wife’s FB page in messages. Just have to go back thru and look it up. Think I have his phone number as well. Just have to do some digging.

I'm always looking for ford parts. So yeah, look it up for me.
I'm just South of Wausau a few miles.
