Power steering problems

I have an 81 f250 with the 400 in it and the power steering recently went out so I decided to replace the pump and I must’ve not caught the fan and new pump barely turning while it was being turned. Anyone know what this is and how to fix it?

First off the PS pulley is not fully installeld/seated. That needs to be fixed first.

And second, it looks like the belt is not tight enough.

okay I’ll get that pulley all the way on and then how do I go about tightening the belt if you know?

Yes, your pulley does need to be positioned further back.

But the main issue is that the belt is the wrong section for the pulleys (or is badly worn)......so it's bottoming in the groove & slipping as a result.

There must be clearance under the belt so it wedges into the groove & drives positively; it can't transmit power effectively if it contacts the bottom of the groove......and at times, a fan sucks up quite a few hp.
