Have been pretty much 'inactive' ("lurking" every now and then) for a long while and decided to re-up. Don't recall my "old" handle here but have had my '65 F-100 Camper Special since 1996 (saved it from the salvage yard for $100). Once upon a time, I had posted photos here and wasn't sure if they still existed and how to find them if they did? Anyhow, hello again and I look forward to sharing the passion for the old iron...
Post your pics. I have a 65 4wd f100 with wrongbed camper box. Has PS toolbox, DS auxiliary tank door and tank, and tie downs. Don’t know if this is a camper special - but the bed is.
Camper Special was a package of options - not available with a wrong bed. The only 4x4 in our era that was available with the Camper Special package was the 1966 F100 4x4.
I'm guessing you have a short bed toolbox in your long bed wrong bed. They fit but were not designed for it specifically.
They didn't use the short bed toolbox with a long bed truck since the toolbox was designed for the newly designed bed for 1964. The long bed toolbox is too big to fit in the same area on a long bed wrong bed.
Good information. Interesting to see the effort someone put into this bed. Truck came from south of San Diego, CA - had it shipped to New Hampshire this summer. Don’t mean to hijack this thread - but 1965 4x4’s interest me. Soon I’ll post some pictures. My wife thinks it was a cartel truck - seeing it came from a border town and calls it the blue Cheech and Chong.
