Touch up paint for truck and rims?

Anyone have a good source for touch up paint. Found a chip in my 2021. It's out of the way and not noticeable....BUT I know it's there. Also found a decent ding/scrape on my chrome rims. Any ideas what to put on it so it doesn't start to rust? I was just going to leave the rim BUT if there is something to prevent me from being pissed off later down the road I'd do it.

Thanks
Steve

Go to your dealer for the paint, and if your wheels are chrome clad, they shouldn't rust. They're aluminum coated with chrome!

The Motorcraft labeled touch up can be purchased through the dealer or various online sources. Including Amazon. Duplicolor sells one that could even be the same as the Motorcraft based on the packaging, but doesn't really cost any less.

get your paint color code from drivers door jamb, and go to automotivetouchup.com or paintscratch.com

Out of curiosity, since I'll be picking up some for my truck...why do you suggest touch up from those sources as opposed to the off the shelf stuff?

Pretty sure the paint touch up is on the body of the truck and the chrome is the wheel.

you could try using some touchup clear coat on the chrome so the junk wont start to oxidize under the chrome

if you need more than just the little bottle, it is cheaper. I painted my fender badges and front/rear ovals with paint from automotivetouchup and it came out perfect. have also used paintscratch.com for a different car. They sell in rattle can, pint, etc.. If just wanting the little bottle with brush, then dealer will have that. Some dealers will even give it to customers...

The stuff from the dealer is terrible and doesn't match and never has. The products from automotivetouchup.com are first class and a true custom match. Lots of us with great success using their products.

For larger quantities the custom mix quarts beat the local PPG supplier on match and flow ability. I just had to paint a weaterguard box in star white pearl and I couldn't get a mix that wasn't grey or pink toned local. Was able to get basecoat ( A & B) plus the HOC water base 2k clear. It turned out excellent and was a visible match to the OE.

Good to know, I was planning to get the Motorcraft touch up to hit the little rock chips as they come. I might have to rethink that if it doesn't actually match.

Try it on a test card first, let it dry and compare. The solvent level is so high in the touch up paint getting anything but non metallic paint is hard to match. The paint will also shrink, this is common on all shelf stable touch up paints sold as roller pens. The best method is custom base and clear. They sell it custom mixed in nail polish bottles and include a single stage clear.

Went to automotivetouchup and found it by color name which translated into 1MDEWHA. Just looked at the door jam plate and it doesn't specify any truck color. Didn't see 1MDEWHA anywhere?

On the white jamb sticker you should see an EXT PNT: followed by your paint code. On mine it is to left and bellow the bar code.
