So I built a 352 by hand. Comp cam, headers, MSD key to plug, 600cfm carb, edelbrock top end.... I realy want to make it a police special aka interceptor motor.. double roller timing. I know these motors where cop car monsters.... what am I missing?
I want to put a interceptor badge on my 66 truck. What if anything am I missing? Pulling 300+ to the wheels currently.... also i need a recondition for a bolt on overdrive, first gear is useless... she is a 1966 F100 stock other than motor....
This sub is 67-72. You will find more people that know specifics about the the 61-66s here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum40/
the FE specific sub also has a lot of knowledge. There are some other FE sites that would be worth checking out also.
I have heard good and bad stories about the overdrives that bolt on the transmission. If you drive it hard they may not hold up well.
Sounds like you have a four on the floor tranny? 1st is very useful if starting a heavy trailer on a hill or crawling through a pasture field but not so much driving around empty.
Gear vendor is an easy bolt on and very nice for interstate cruising. Should do well unless you really beat the heck out of it. TKO's are nice too....not really geared for towing and hauling but may not matter depending on your goals with the truck.
Sounds like you've got it with the engines mods. If you really want to do it up, consider a roller cam and custom pistons with "modern" ring pack. You can dial in the compression, reduce friction, and switch to a modern oil (no need for high zinc oil). If you like what you have, I'd leave it be and run it.

what year PI are you talking about. 352, 390 or 428?
assuming 352 as that’s what you built. They were solid lifter engines. Very unlikely you are Making 300 rwhp with the 352. Would love to see that Dyno sheet!
I did make a few pair of Police Interceptor inserts for the ‘66 badges. Would Have to look if any left.
are you running the stock 352 C6AE-R heads? What cam and what intake?
best overdrive add on is a Gear Vendors.
great overdrive manual is the factory ‘66 unit.

if talking about a GV OD that’s total false. Cars running 2500hp with them.
I gotta agree with Boss9 300 hp at the wheels is a stretch. The most powerful 352 from the factory was the 1960 high performance with 360 hp @ 6000 and 380 lb ft of torque at 3400. But it was 10.6-1 compression and the factory used gross HP numbers in those days. And they were solid lifter engines. I remember the trooper cars in the 60's with the lumpy solid cams in them. I had a few occasions to listen to them close up while the trooper wrote me a ticket on the hood of his car.

nothing close to stock on this motor....comp cam hydro lifts, aluminum heads, money.. money...more money.... bloody nuckles...... 🤦🏻♂️ I hope it’s close to 300.... it’s my second block and over bored.. pistons... money and time.... 🤷🏻♂️
If the OP wants a true interceptor 352, it can probably be done with a lot of patience finding original components. More power and torque can be had using modern goodies...like aftermarket heads and intake with a custom cam.
I have a gear vendor and like it though I have ran across a few people that will never touch another. One guy had repeat failures in a diesel rv camper and another guy had failures doing WOT shifts. For the most part, they have a good reputation.
The GV is really good but expensive. A cheap way to get a usable first gear is to swap to a 4:1 low T-19 out of a mid 80's diesel and use a 3.00 or 3.25 rear gear.

it went from mostly stock to nothing stock, 300+ hp to hope for 300.. some type of sleeper it sounds like.
would love to see some pics of that gem of a 352 you built! Do you recall what deck height you ended up with? Part numbers on pistons used?
did you figure out what compression it ended up being? Been on a drag strip yet?
