So I have 20,000 miles and time for wheel bearing repack
instead I dissided to replace with disk brakes . All new everything bearing are bigger, and can now look at inner seal
fron under trailer.
Disk brakes are an awesome upgrade. I'm very pleased with ours on our 5th wheel and I'm betting you'll be pleased as well with their performance on your trailer.
I have been looking to do this to my 5th wheel. Any recommendations for kits, or parts list. I believe my unit has 2x 5,200lb axles.
I went with a kit from Preformace Brake. Every thing you need including hold down clips for the lines, all you will need to buy is grease & a couple quarts brake fluid. I used about a 1.5 quarts with bleeding and carry the extra 1/2 in my truck tool box. Great to work with, I had a couple questions and gave them a call during the install. They were able to answer while I talked to them. My biggest question was do all the calipers have to face the same way, no. As you can see in the picture one each way, both side match. I went from 9.5-10 on the gain and hoped I could stop a couple times. I now run 6 and i know I can stop, nigh and day differance. Kits about 2K and installers get about 1k.
Questions PM me and I can try and answer all basic mechanics, worst part was were to mount the pump.

Thanks.
I had seen these kits, wasn't sure if I could source stuff seperate to save a decent amount of change or not, half the time there is so much of a time waste to save a few bucks it isnt worth it.
Install should be no issue, I am familiar with all this kind of work.
I am def looking for the improved stopping and quieter stopping as well. Sounds like this is the way to go :-)

Kit comes with lines already made, a good tubing benders a must. I could have double flared (required) on brakes lines but theirs look so good I used bends to correct length, fluid didn't care how many bends.

I have all the super fast brake flairing benchtop tools, and coils of various sizes of ni-cop line, so adjusting or making lines is a non issue (I live in rust belt, so replacing lines on all our service and plow trucks is the norm lol)
I agree though, fluid has no opinion on following a few extra bends :-)
Kodiak disk brakes are what I used . My axle are dexter 6,000 lbs. So in order to install had to use bigger bearing that fit
the new hubs and also fit axle. Easy to do. One of the things
I like is being able to look at the inner seals, and all Timken
Wheel bearing
