I’ve got an F6 DP Tuner and have had no problems since I installed it in 2009. I use it mainly for the exhaust brake “tune” when pulling, but a year or so ago, the connector on the back started falling off the Switch. Then the last smog check I took the switch and the bracket I made for it off for the check, and didn’t reinstall it. So yesterday, I decided to hook it up again as we’re going camping again next week. I plugged it in, started the truck and no lights (numbers) showed on the Switch. So I wiggled the connector on the back of the Switch and the truck shut down. Still no lighted numbers on my Switch. I turned off the ignition, disconnected the Switch and tried to restart the truck. No go! I just spun and spun for about 10 to 15 seconds, but no start. I waited for 20 or 30 seconds and tried again. Again, spun and spun but not even a hint of starting after maybe 15 seconds. I’m thinking oh great, I just somehow fried my PCM. I sat and pondered the situation for another minute or so, then thought I’ll try one more time and it started within a couple seconds. Now I’m afraid to try to connect my F6 Switch again. Any thoughts on that?

I agree with Bitterroot. I'd recommend fixing that connection to the switch before using the F6 any further. You could pull the chip from the PCM for now and see what is needed- new ribbon cable to the switcher, or the header on the switcher replaced. Not worth the risk of a no-start or PCM scramble on your trip, right?

Yeah, probably won't pull the chip from the PCM until after our trip. Our first trip in awhile owing to the camp closures (and just about everything else). Thanks guys.
Gary, I ‘m sure that if you contact Jody he will be able to help you out.
Ya know George, because the tuner was so old, I didn't think about contacting Jody on how to proceed. Kinda an "out of warranty" mentality. Jody probably would have something to say about it. thanks!
Sounds like it went into the no-start mode. When I put mine in the no-start mode the screen is dark. Try holding down the right button when you first turn the key switch on. If the right hand button is not pressed when the key is first turned to the on position it will do just as you stated. Crank but not start. You may have already tried this but it came to mind when you stated your problem.
Your switch is the only thing keeping the Chip on, It's also part of the anti theft feature, If the switch is damaged, or you remove the switch, the truck is dead.....I just tested it on mine. You can set it on 0 and remove the switch, it will brick the truck. you just pull the switch, the truck reverts to 0, it's a brick..... Switch is intermittent, Dead truck.
You have to reason in that your switch is getting old and likely needs to be replaced. Call jody and see if he can offer help for your trip. Possibly he has a workaround. He will suggest a new switch I'm sure, but I'm curious to know if there is another ( temporary) option you could do with his help for your trip.

I would have to say if it's giving you issues, would it not be better to pull it now then to have you truck bricked on the side of the road! Easier to pull it in the driveway then on the side of the road? Good Luck and have a Great trip!
Well I contacted Jody and he said "The odds are very slim (that it would scramble the PCM). I would go with the cable." A little more work to change out the cable but half the price, neither being that expensive. I'll let you all know the results when I do the swap. It'll be a while though because I'm in the middle of some home projects and I'm not as worried about the PCM now. I'll probably take our next outing before the swap as there are no big grades on our route and as I said, I mainly use it for the exhaust brake. .
