having a little problem in my 2020 F150 XLT 302A with the 8" screen. Recently, it hasn't been dimming properly for night-mode. Having this same issue with my android phone plugged in and running android auto, or without the phone connected.
Makes it really distracting to drive at night with that big screen at full brightness.
Have noticed other screen "weirdness" in the last few weeks too. is there a system update or reset I can do? Or failing that, is there a manual brightness adjustment I can do?
Thanks, I did find how to force the night mode. I actually like it that way, so that's no problem. Will see if I have something blocking the sensor to mess with the auto setting.
Now having some issues with the truck communicating with my phone when it's plugged in by USB. works fine on bluetooth. feels like an android auto problem again. Is there reset or diagnostic procedure for the Sync system? I'm guessing this will be a lot of hassle to get the dealer to look at.

There is a procedure to reset the sync system. I had a problem with something on a recent trip to Tahoe. I managed to look up the issue and do a system reset. I don't remember how to do it, but you can find it online.

I have a 2020 F150 XLT as well and had trouble with my android phone when using bluetooth. It paired just fine and then the second time I connected to the trucks bluetooth it caused the center 8 inch screen to lock up. After about an hour it must have reset itself because when I got back in and started the truck everything was fine. I haven't tried connecting to bluetooth since. I'm not computer tech savvy and guess I'm a little gun shy.

I consider myself pretty tech savvy, but exactly what the two systems (truck and phone) are doing each time is hidden from the end user, so it's hard to do any diagnostic work yourself. I will need to be pretty frustrated before I take it to the dealer for this, because I'm sure that will be a hassle. But then again, I really need the phone function in this truck to work for me. I spend a lot of my day on the phone for work, and I can't have this truck messing that up.
Back to the screen, I need to figure this out. I'm the OP in this thread and nothing has changed. Was out last night, and while I can dim the cluster with the pysical buttons on the left of the steering wheel, the screen, even in night mode, is far too bright and the birghtness adjustment in the settings is greyed out. I CAN turn the screen off in those settings, which works, but is pretty annoying. Anyone ever figure this out?
My guess, you have buggered up settings and I would do a hard 'reset' of the apim. (I think it's press volume and >>> at the same time) It won't revert to older software, it will wipe all settings and put them to factory defaults. You need to reconnect to FordPass and redo your presets. I had to do a hard reset on my 2020 a few months back, fixed my issue (carplay) and was not difficult to reconnect to FordPass.
Try pulling the fuse for the infotainment. It may just need a good old fashioned power down reset.

So, very interesting news. I did the "fuse pull" and that didn't do anything. However, I did the reset (Seek Right and Power buttong for 5 seconds, and that DID fix it, the brightnesss adjustment worked afterward in both day and night modes. I had to reset the clock, but the preset radio stations were still there.
BUT BUT BUT BUT!!!!, less than half an hour later, it was back to the old way, at full brightness and brightness adjustment inoperative. I cannot for the life of me think why this can be. I may do a full factor reset next, but figured I'm so slow with updates that I'd better type this out while I was thinking of it.
