Seems like a lot of trouble to re-label a part.... What do you think it would it cost you to do that? Built into the OE/feel-good price?

We all know ‘Ford/Motorcraft’ doesn’t actually manufacture these parts.

I recently bought one of these solenoids from local motorcraft dealer and I got the same pamphlet in the box saying Ametek, also has the longer studs compared to the original. This item did come from a trusted motorcraft dealer that deals in wholesale so I'm sure it's legit

Probably only $1 in Mexico to sand and label the part.

As @FordTruckNoob can attest to. I have found out a fair bit about counterfeit super precision bearings in the last week, and the major bearing mfg's have "fake bearing" investigation departments.

I sure can. I even performed a “quality control check” (i.e. dropped it) on one of them.

Jason, thanks for posting this.
Does anyone know when these hit the market? I ask because i bought 2 sets in 2018 on amazon. Not a seller i would recognize. The first set are in my excursion. Installed them when i replaced injectors.
The second set are in my red van, installed them as pm. No issues with glow plugs but this has me wondering.

So I pulled mine out today to check them. Appear real, have the 6 crimp marks. Apparently made in Ireland (so the bag says) but the plugs themselves say made in Germany. Anyway, looks like I have real parts for my Fall project.

[QUOTE=SkySkiJason;19772433]Short story - customer supplied ‘Motorcraft glow plugs’ for me to install. 30k miles later (one year) truck is having cold start smoke issues. It fogs out the county with choking, eye watering, blue smoke

This I what’s happening to me. I got my GPs Riffraff diesel this winter. Didn’t look for a hole punch in the bag. But my truck is doing the blue smoke. Pissing me off. On my OBS

Sounds like you have another issue because Riffraff only sells genuine Motorcraft. Are you still running stock injectors?

swapped out the stock ones for Biterroot 160/0 about 2 weeks ago. Only have 300 miles on them at most. Still smokes. That pic was from before new injectors. I’m not saying Riffraff ripped me off. I’m just saying I have smoking issues I can’t figure out

If you are running stock tuning on Stage 1 injectors that isn't helping. I would diagnose deeper before thinking what it might be or not.

I think he has tuning, but regardless he is an obs, so stock tuning with 160/0 would affect anything as far as smoke

Couple of thoughts:

Ford Motor Company has zero financial interest or motivation in keeping the legacy 7.3s, 6.0s etc. on the road, in fact the fewer of these obsolete vehicles on the road, the better the chances of selling a new Ford truck.

Recently bought a Motorcraft radiator cap off the net, came in… marked “Made in India”, thought I had been given a fake, got one from the dealership, “Made in India”. Clearly Ford is seeking to cut costs in manufacturing components for these outdated vehicles.

These “Counterfeit” parts may actually be genuine Motorcraft parts outsourced to the lowest bidder.

If injectors and GP’s did not solve your problem, it’s likely something else. The truck I was having problems with had tuning issues....

I’ve put 160/0 and 160/30 injectors in OBS trucks with stock tunes and they didn’t smoke like that. Maybe a little haze at extended idle, but not what you’re reporting.

Never had a problem with Riffraff or Bitterroot.

I can say the LAST Motorcraft water pump I bought said ‘made in china’ on it... MDhunter may have a point about low bidder and obsolescence.

I have custom tunes. But the truck was doing it before even just with the edge revolver tunes. I bought it back in December. The previous owner told me the truck smokes real good on startup. I was hoping it was just due to the cold weather. I have been suggested to do a compression test. Just haven’t had time yet to do it.
