frame boxing plates for 53 f100 IFS
I recently purchased a mustang II IFS kit from Speedway for my 53 f100 along with their frame boxing plates 910--54425. These frame plates didn't fit/follow the contour of my frame at all. The Speedway plates were basically straight with a slight stepdown on the front end but didn't follow the slight slope down on my frame. Speedway said they've been selling these plates a long time with no returns... can anyone tell me why my frame and the Speedway plates don't match up ? I'm guessing I'll need to get some steel plate and make my own..

Revamp,
lots of plates you buy are 'close' and require some fitment. In my opinion they are also too short... I boxed from the front cross member to the cab. But, that's me.
Get some heavy cardboard and trace your frame.. cut out that template and make your own using some 3/32 or 1/8" material... fit them just inside the frame channel and weld them in... little grinding and persuasion and you're done. cheapest way to go...

frame boxing plates for 53 f100 IF
thanks for reply Jniolon...I thought if I could find a supplier to provide the plates it would save me time and trouble to make my own. It's becoming evident there may not be a supplier with exact plates for my frame contour. So guess I'll start the self fabrication process with probably some 7 Ga mild steel plate. I didn't need this schedule delay. I appreciate your reply and your pic, Once I get crossmember in my task of installing motor mounts for the GM5.3 engine into the 53 F100 will be a challenge.
