1973 F250 Possible Front Coilover Conversion Upgrade
A little history. I have a 73 F250 frame that originally came with a 360, and a running 79 F250 with a 460 and C6. Both trucks had 2WD. I am using a Dana 60 rear end with Posi and 3.54. The idea is to build one truck from the two. I am getting close to having the 73 frame blasted and powder coated...so I need to be ready with the suspension soon.
I want to upgrade the front end with a coilover conversion but can't find one for the F250. I have, however found kits for F100 and F150. I also don't have the fabrication or welding skills to use a Crown Vic.
On a thread here from years ago I read that the front steering (Twin I Beam) and suspension can be swapped from the 1/2 ton trucks to the 3/4 ton trucks and visa versa provided that you use the correct spring height.
Question: If the above is true, can one of these 1/2 ton Coilover Conversions bolt to the F250? Spring size should no longer matter...and I can get heavier duty springs (600 lb high travel) to handle the 460.
Are there other options to update my front end?
