2003 f250, replacing the spring bushings and seems to be alot easier if i can get the blocker bar out the way. Unfortunately i removed the two bolts on both sides, but looks like it is welded in a spot also. Is this normally welded? because as im researching many people are removing them and leaving them off. ( i will not be doing).
Ford changed how the Blocker Beam was attached over the period of years between when the Blocker Beam was introduced, in order to meet a new collision compatibility standard, to when the Blocker Beam was eventually eliminated, following a revision of the front frame horn design which made it compatible with the FMVSS standards without the Blocker Beam.
The initial Blocker Beam was entirely bolted, and could be easily added (or subtracted) after the fact of production to the front leaf spring hangars. But not long thereafter, the front spring hangars were changed to incorporate the Blocker Beam attachment, most likely to reduce production complexity and material costs.
The difference in mounting designs may account for the discrepancies in user reports regarding how they removed the Blocker Beam. The design changed between 2001 and 2002.
