the easiest place is by tapping into the MAP sensor line. Look for a rubber hose comming out of the Y in the intercooler (back center of motor) and running to the left rear of the engine compartment. Cut and insert T and youre good to go.
Did your Autometer gauge come with the "T" install kit? Most don't , they usually include a tap and die bung install instead.
You may need to purchase a "T" kit. It makes it a lot easier then shopping all over the countryside for the "T" brass fittings, hose, etc.
Right now, I have boost at the top, trans in the middle, and pyro on the bottom. Not sure why I put them like that but I did.
If I had it to do over again I would put pyro at the top, boost in the middle and trans in the bottom.
For me, the top is the closest and the easiest to see at a glance so that's why I would change it.........and my trans never gets above 160-170* so I would stick in at the bottom.
Before you install them maybe stick them in the pillar mount and hold it up over the stock pillar to see where it woiuld be easiest for you to read. Some people have told me that they find the middle gauge the easiest to read.
I have the Autometer Lunar gauges in the triple A mount and I prefer the Pyro at the bottom, boost center and the tranny at the top.
I find it easier to be focus on the lower Pyro gauge and on the road under heavy acceleration without moving my eyes to the top of the pillar.
Personal preference, seat height and operator height may also influence the gauge positioning I guess.
