Van cover for winter mothballing
To protect it from rust and dirt, I used to keep in a barn during the winter months.
As spring came, I wanted to dump the battery into the engine bay but was shocked as a flock of birds apparently moved in with my van and pooped all over the place. I pay the guy that owns that shed 50 dollars a month just for keeping my van out of the weather.
TL;DR: I was really mad at the guy as my LED headlights, bumper and hood all still look "crappy" even after cleaning up. Didn't want the hassle of a legal fight with him, so I told him I'd move out ASAP.
Found new place nearby my home which has power and a little storage room with power so I could leave the batteries on trickle charge during Winter. Only issue is that it's not fully enclosed.
So now I'm looking for a custom car cover that's durable and breathable to keep dirt off my van during the Winter months.
Any recommendations? I'd not want to cover it with plastic tarp as that would mean rust damages galore...
I'd also need shipping to Germany as my trip to LA in May has been cancelled due to Covid hell...
I've got a couple of covers from California Car Cover Co.- took a quick look and they "appear" to have something for the extended E-series vans (altho they call it "long wheelbase"
)Seems like it would be worth a phone call. I have no idea about international shipping...
Their outdoor covers are thick multi-layer, I have one for the Tiger that has been thru at least one hurricane.
Good luck.
At any rate the California Car Cover's seem very top notch and would be a great choice if price isn't too much an issue. Here's their "select a cover" website link: https://www.calcarcover.com/custom-fit-car-truck-coversIf you're successful finding a cover here in the USA and seller won't ship to you I'd offer my free services to accept and forward such a purchase if that's helpful.
