1980 is a one-year wonder concerning wiring; for example, the Neutral Safety Switch is mounted on (or near) the column instead of in the side of the automatic transmissions. There are a few other oddities, too, so wiring is NOT directly replaceable from a 1980 donor.
But all the mechanics are the same, I seem to remember 10mm flex-head ratchets coming in handy, especially near the windshield.
The entire dash comes off the cab with only a few bolts, it's LOTS easier to remove the entire assembly and then operate on the wiring...
No A/C makes things substantially less complicated.
