Carburetor help

Hi there,

I am new to posting, but have been learning a lot from reading other threads over the pat couple years, I am currently stumped with my truck. I have a 1964 Mercury F100 that has a 262CI 6 cylinder in it. I am trying to keep it as close to stock as I possibly can. I believe that I am having troubles with the current carburetor that is on it. I have tried all the air and fuel mixtures that this carb allows... It cannot be anything fuel related as I am getting more then enough pressure and fuel into the carb, I have brand new fuel lines, new tank, new filter, new pump, and I rebuilt this current carb, which I think is a Holley 1940. I will try to attach some pics of it. Does anyone know if this Carb is a proper or even a good one to use on this engine? if it works with this engine any advice on what could the issue be... and if not what carb should I use and where I might be able to get it? Any help would be much appreciated.

If this is not the proper carburetor would an autolite 1100 work for this truck, if so are there different models to an autolite 1100

Just some FYI, I got the truck started and it stays running but only when the butterfly flap is closed, after a little bit of running you can open the flap a little but as soon as you try to put any power to the engine it stalls and sometimes wont even restart.

My 1964 Ford and Mercury shop manual says the 262 used a Ford single barrel which would be the Autolite 1100. Your current carb has a non-manual choke that uses manifold heat to warm the choke bimetal spring. All of our trucks used a choke cable originally. For a 1964 with 262 that choke cable was part number

C1TF-9700-A - 35.5" long from base of bezel.

Looks like you still have the cable coming through the firewall so that's still in place.

There were a lot of models of Autolite 1100 - the exact stamped numbers on them can help associate a factory correct carb from others. They were a bit specific to not only engine but sometimes the transmission factored in as well. My truck with automatic uses a C6TF-C where a 4-speed would have had a different number originally. Many can be tweaked to work in other situations so it's not critical to success but if you want to keep it as close to stock as possible those things can factor into it depending on how far you want to take it.

I don’t see why that carb wouldn’t work, but yeah maybe not factory. I think the only solution is to take it apart and rebuild, clean passageways. And ensure functional choke.

The Autolite 1100 carbs with manual choke are plentiful on the Bay, many claiming to be new. They are as cheap as a night on the town for two. I never cared much for the hot-air style of choke.

I've done this already, how I came to the conclusion it might not be the right carb. Thank you for the advice though!
