I've had the situation where my radiator fans are blowing full speed, but the temperature indicator on dash shows no issue.
In those situations, it has been cold outside and my heat was on (not defrost or AC).
Today, heading to the dealership, I stopped to get a new battery because we're taking a trip to the mountains next week and my original battery seemed to be getting weak.
Swapped out the battery and this happened, see pic. Note, it wasn't actually overheating....and had been sitting off for 20 minutes before I started it.
I left the message up since I was only a couple miles from the dealership...so they could see it.
Thoughts? I'm sure they'll call me later today or tomorrow with the diagnosis. I'm wondering if my temp sensor was going out and finally died.
Here is what they threw at me.
Note oil pan at $900...that seems ridiculous, but I've never priced one.
I stopped and had the battery replaced on the way to the dealership....they want to charge $170 to reset things and reflash pcm?
If you’re not afraid to work on your own vehicle, most if not all of the suggested repair estimate items can be done by you for much less in your garage or driveway.
It is David McDavid Lincoln off of Plano Parkway.
I used to have a great service advisor there......but he retired and moved away.
This was from some random service guy that I'm really not familiar with.
I am having the change out the temp sensor, because I want my radiator fans fixed.
The $170 for resetting the BMS is what I thought was most outlandish. That's almost as much as I paid for the battery!!!
My fans will come on high as well when the temps are are 214* if I am at a standstill no matter outside temps. Heck, I've had mine go into limp mode at 9* outside while pulling a trailer up in Colorado. I wish the cooling system on these was a little better.

The issue I have is that mine will come on when it's 20°F outside and I'm driving the truck gently with no load or trailer.
They randomly come on (on max, not low) for no apparent reason. The temp sensor they are replacing is for a cylinder or cylinder head.
I hope it works.
