There may be other things, but of interest to me were the stiffer rear spring pack, upgraded rear axle and the payload is increased by the 10,800lb GVWR increase - supported by the first two. The tire inflation on the payload sticker will also be higher for the rear tires: 80lbs instead of 65. All that said - those items are all about being able to carry more load according to the sticker. Our F250 does not have the high capacity package, but the payload is more than adequate for our purposes and the rear spring pack rides a bit softer, at least seems like.
Is the High Capacity Trailer Tow Package worth it on a 2020/2021 F250?
What exactly are you getting/ or how you benefiting from it?
i tow a 8-9k lb trailer 3-5 times a week.
Are you looking at a truck on the lot or special order. If it is a special order I suggest your price out the same configuration in an F-350, the price difference will be next to nothing and you will have more payload. If you are looking at dealer stock there just seems to be few 350's to choose from. There are numerous threads pointing out the differences but with an F-250 with HCTTP you are essentially getting an F-350 de-rated on paper to 10,800# GVWR. Others will correct me if I am not 100% accurate on this.
^^^ Ditto....F350 all the way, Long bed Crew cab = 48 gallon tank and add upfitter switches, 5th wheel prep package at a minimum. LED lights are also encouraged
My non HCTTP F-250 with the 6.2L pulls my 9K TT without issue.
I agree a 6.2L will pull his TT without issue, however if he is looking at an F-250 with HCTTP it only comes in the 6.7 PSD. My question is why would you limit your diesel to only 10,800# when you can get an F-350 with more payload for basically the same money. Edit: Unless for tax registration purposes

Short answer. For the states that charge $150 to license a 250, but $1000 to license a 350. There is a purpose for most things.
I chose a F250 with HCTT for many of the reasons listed above and insurance was cheaper for the F250 than F350. I also like the knowledge that even though I'm not over my vehicles sticker limit more margin exists. All I tow with my F250 is a 10k GCW TT and a 12k GCW dump.
wait.... what???? Y’all paid upwards of $1k to register a F350??????
I thought I getting raped paying about $150 here in Florida.
why is the 350 so expensive for?

Towing those weights a standard gas 6.2L F250 is more than adequate. The higher capacity package is overkill. Heck you are within the max towing package on the F150 in that range.

Most people conflate registration with the excise/use/property tax most pay, which are typically collected concurrently.
In CO, the tax burden of a car is based on MSRP. So, my “registration” was about $1,200 in year one, about $1,000 in year two, and it will go down over time. But, most of that is tax ... the kind you can deduct for income tax filings. The actual registration part, plus all of the various road/bridge/whatever fees is around $200.
Car taxes is big business for states and it’s why people set up LLCs in MT and other states to “own” the cars and motorhomes. Find a super car in CA and there’s probably a 50% chance it’s wearing a MT license plate.

So, in CO they amortize the taxes over the life of the vehicle? Interesting...
Here in NJ, you just pay sales tax (6.5%) along with the cost of the vehicle. Initial registration on a new vehicle is for 4 years, and I think it was ~$400 on my F350, which isn't out of line with what is paid on other vehicles (IIRC, it's ~$65/yr on my motorcycles). What I still don't understand is that when one buys a used vehicle (one that has already had sales tax paid), you get to pay sales tax again on that same vehicle's selling price when you go to register it (Fair Tax seems the way to go....).

CA. too, my F250 was more than that, roughly $950 first year, $900 first renewal.Thats because sales price(after dealer discount but before rebates) plays a big part in that total reg. fee. (like the gentleman from CO mentioned). I'm really curious to know how much more mine would have been if F350.
