Woo boo...spring is here, time to work on the 48

The past 2 days have hit 50 in NJ so I’m jumping in on the truck.

Started up on the rewire job. I installed a fuse panel under the dash and started wiring it up. That bundle of bright colored wires is from the turn signals, which becomes a mess just beyond the camera range.

I plan to do the dash/instrument cluster first, then under the hood.

I also picked up a bunch of scrap wood from shipping crates at a local farm equipment dealer. What’s am I building? Yes it’s truck related.

my grandfather had a big wooden toolbox, passed on to my older brother now, so I thought I’d build one for my truck bed. A toolbox from reclaimed wood is just the thing. Something like this...

That tool box idea is great. I work in agriculture manufacturing and used to prep and install windshields. Would get 30 of them in crates of the most beautiful full dimension wood from Norway iirc. I wanted to take the empty crates home for projects so bad. They wouldn't allow it, insurance blah blah blah. Glad you are able to source wood for your project. Good luck with the wiring.

This is far from beautiful wood, but I think it will fit in. The flatbed is reclaimed wood, lots of worm holes and knots, so a raw wood box should look great.

I have the headlights and front signals pretty much done today. I hope to get the rest of the under hood wiring done soon, then move on to under the dash. I decided to make my own harnesses, pretty challenging but fun at the same time.
