Starting issue

Hey guys I just put on a new alternator and now my truck won’t start without a jump. It will drive with no power going to the radio or cigarette lighter. I required the alternator twice because I assumed I installed it wrong but no dice. The battery is less than a year old. Now my starter may not be grounded properly but I starts fine when hooked to external power. I’m stumped please help. 86 bronco

When you turn the key on you get any dash lights?

I got this issue solved on another thread. The grommets for the VR on the alternator needed to have 3 wires and mine came stock with two so that needed to be swapped out and then the stator wires linked.
