They're OK but in my opinion pretty light duty. Could not handle a 20 ft. chain, some accessory tow hooks and a strap and latch properly. The latch mechanism is very low budget. Not worth $200 if I had it to do over again. I found one listing on eBay where they were both left and right for $192.
I agree that they are not heavy duty. But I'm still happy with mine. Just enough room for tow strap, tire puncher kit, some adapters, tools and misc. small stuff that makes it handy. Got mine at Amazon for $160.00 in the "damaged/returns/open box" section. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. Just keep a eye for a deal.
I have one on passenger side and love it. Per other comments it’s perfect for straps, light tools etc. I’ve used also used as ice chest to keep food cold and it worked perfectly. Convenient.

I had the Undercover model years ago. Super handy they just the design is flawed. The plastic on mine split right at the metal frame along the swing portion. The design puts all of the weight of the box and it's contents on that area and when combined with the stress of driving the truck it's just a matter of time before it breaks. Undercover will not replace it either. Mine carried a heavy duty set of jumper cables, pair of work gloves, can of wd40 and a couple of wrenches. Lasted about 2 years.
I have one on my passenger side. I didn't want one on the driver side, as it would interfere with access to my bed light button ... that I use about once every 18 months. I like the box for what it is and I use if for my air hose and some other bits and pieces. I only got it to chew through some FordPass points. But, to answer your second question, I do not think it's worth the $230 price tag. I'd value these right around $150. Again, though I like my box, I'd not have purchased it if I weren't using up my FordPass points.

Here are some pics:
I notice in your pictures, that you still have the tie down hooks, I thought that's where the latch mounted.
Latch mounts on the box link bracket, but it doesn’t lose any functionality. Installation actually requires removal of the tail light assembly, but the instructions are excellent and it’s an easy job.

After I read your last post, I saw a video on youtube of someone installing the latch bracket. Thank for the additional picture. Mine should be here in a couple days.
