Hello,
I have an 86 f250 w/ 460 4speed manual, I recently replaced the ICM do to a crank no start. The truck moved about 100 feet before the rpm began jumping all over the place and then the engine died. I haven't had a lot of time to diagnose anything major, the bowl has fuel and is spraying into the intake, timing was good before I replaced the ICM. other than that I have absolutely no idea whats going on.
FWIW, I learned years ago with something this old, bite the bullet and buy a rebuilt distributor. Cost me a lot to learn that lesson. I could have saved a couple hundred if I had just done that to begin with. After the new ICM was installed, the coil went and took the ICM with it. A rebuilt unit lasted many years.
