Talking I got it!

I got the bronco i was looking at! here's the dirt:

1984 bronco xlt
white/blue
blue interior
302, 4 gear
3.55 gears
white 10 spoke wheels
quad shock front end
manual hubs

-now for the strange(at least to me)
black fuzzy seat covers
dice shift ****
and purple valve covers & oil pan!( )

it was two hours up there in my dads '02 and the 3 hours back in the bronco was more comfortable!

when we first went to get it we pulled the dipstick and it was just crud all over it- but not a huge dissapointment cause he told us that the 302 was no good so I haven't even tried starting it yet, but i have 2 302's sitting around here doing nothing, and the one I am going to use only has about 50,000 on a rebuild.

but I do have a few questins-

is there a way of easily identifying the 4 speed? I beleave that it came w/ an auto origionally, but the 4 is installed good.

is there a way to easlily open the rear 'gate? niether the key or the inside handle works.

what is the easiest way to level the front end? it has a fair amount of rake on it.

who makes headers that will actually fit w/ the manual? all that I find are for autos.

also my dad offered me a winch (older pto driven ramsey-8000lbs.) in trade for my three wheelerdo you think that this is worth it? It would need a new cable and I would like to run it off the power steering pump or get a motor for it (about $80) but it worked just fine the last time we had it going which has been a year or two, but it is also one big winch!
thanks guys!

does the 4speed have a granny low first . if so then its a NP435 more then likly. Im not sure you can use that pto winch with the Tcase you have in your bronco, and electric would be better anyways because it can be used if the motor isnt running.

good luck

To open the rear gate, make sure the back window is all the way down, if its up, even just a little bit, then the gate wont open

oh and so you know the key dosent open the gate it lets the window up and down from the rear. you let it down with the key and then reach in and open the gate with the latch. DW
P.S. congrats on the Bronco!

and also I could easily get a electric motor on the winch- the motor is like 78 bucks, and then I would need to get the wiring, but i was more as aiming to is it a good trade? the three wheeler runs, but needs about $150 in parts(throttle cable and coil) and has a cracked fender

and the t-18 and t-19 also have granny gears so is there some way to id it with a number on the case, case shape, something like that?

Here's a good link to the tranny question:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...Btransmissions

Hopefully, this will help. FWIW, my '85 302EFI came with the T-18.

As for the headers, I'm not sure they asked me what type of tranny I had when I ordered mine (Bassani shorty headers). They did bolt up and clear just fine, though. I'm sure there are other brands that will, also.

ok, got the old engine out, and discovered that the tranny is an np435- had one hell of a time gettin the engine out-the cherry picker stopped going up and we still had about 5 inces left to clear! come to find out the hoist was just low on fluid, but we got it out and now the front is finally level. also i discovered that the back window works better when the battery has a charge! but now i have a new problem. the old exaust system almost fell off. i have good sounding mufflers, and want duels, and would prefer an exit in front of the rear tires. any suggestions?
