I have a 2011 E450 and the low fuel light is on all the time, despite having a full tank. I would have thought it might be the sending unit in the tank, however the gas gauge is reading correctly. When I have a full tank, the gauge will be reading full, however the low fuel light will still be on. Being the gauge is reading accurately, I assume the sending unit is good. Has anyone had this problem before? Any information would be helpful. Thanks Scott
This might be a problem inside the instrument cluster. Beginning 2005 the IC's became more microprocessor based, many functions and controls being handled through them than ever before.
It's also possible the fuel tank sending unit is causing the problem despite showing fuel level as it changes while driving or re-fueling. There may be a diagnostic procedure in the appropriate year Work Shop Manual. You could post this same question in the Electrical & Wiring sub-forum.
Can't be of any more specific help---good luck with this.
