I have a crack in the windshield of my 2013 F150 and need to get it replaced. it is too big to repair. I want to make sure that I am getting the correct replacement for the truck. I am kind of clueless when it comes to this stuff. Does anyone know if it is typical for a replacement to come with the tint strip at the top of the windshield? I am guessing the dotted darkened area when the rear view mirror goes is pretty standard. But I would have to imagine a replacement windshield won't have the Ford logo in it. Is there anything I should be looking for or asking the company doing the replacement?
Me: 2-years ago got a small crack in windshield and before it spread contacted my auto insurance (AAA - with comprehensive coverage). Their recommendation was a GlassDoctor facility. Reason: FoMoCo OEM windshield (Carlite).
For $50 (otherwise the replacement would have been no co$t), the windshield was upgraded to one with the green/blue shade (F-150 logo is standard) - part # DW01749GBY. Installation came with a 1-year guarantee which also included any repair - which I had occasion to need due to a small nick/chip.
HIGHLY recommend GlassDoctor
BTW ... The dots in the "dotted darkened area" are called frits. They help distribute temperature evenly to lessen optical distortion or “lensing”. This happens when the frit band (the solid black one) heats up much faster than the windshield’s glass, creating an optical distortion that makes either straight lines look curved or bowed inwards toward the center.

Thanks for the 411.
I've had mine replaced 2x so far. First replacement was done at my job. As soon as I got in after work, I noticed it was a brighter view(the glass co. supposedly ordered OEM). I immediately drove to their shop and of course they refused to let me see the old glass and insisted it was correct.
I had mine replaced a few years ago due to hail damage. I had it done at SafeLite AutoGlass, at their shop, and it was covered by my insurance with $50 deductible. Mine was still the factory glass with the Ford logo behind the rear view mirror area, and that's what they went back with. If I recall there was a couple day delay/wait for them to get this Ford glass in.
If you want to make sure it's an exact match to oem, look for the "SoundScreen" logo bottom driver side.
I was told it's different than a regular windshield in that it's thicker to deflect more ambient noise from entering the cab. Now I don't know how true that is as it's hearsay but I have to admit, my truck is absolutely the quietest pickup I've ever driven.
