Idling issue
I’ve done a lot of diagnostics and repairs according to results of the way the truck has been running but not sure where to go from here. (Working on 2004 F250 Superduty 6.8 V10 non Cali emissions)
Started off with what seemed to be lack of power/fuel cut out. Went away and came back intermittently with no codes at all. One night happened again took it to garage, the cat was red hot so we decided to remove it and see what happened and nothing changed. Ended up changing fuel pump & in line filter on frame rail. Worked good for a week and got pretty much same issue again. Hooked up scanner and checked misfire count, couple cylinders misfiring. Changed 2 coils/spark plugs but kept missing on more and more cylinders. Ultimately just did all coils, boots, and plugs. Still had issue after changing plugs so changed fuel pump again. No issues for a month but came back again still no codes at all. Removed fuel filter pump and regulator blew lines out make sure there was no clogs, flushed the tank. New fuel pump again and new fuel pressure regulator. Truck ran good for about 2 weeks and issues reoccurred. For the last few weeks I’ve been getting codes p0172 and P0175 for rich conditions detected bank 1 and bank 2. Put a new universal cat back on the truck to see if it would run better and did not. Day after new cat installed began to stutter and stall plowing snow. Currently the truck throws P0320 engine speed circuit fault, P0351 Ignition coil circuit A (cylinder 1) primary/secondary circuit fault, P0357 ignition coil G (cylinder 7) primary/secondary circuit fault. Truck had to get towed to garage, foul exhaust smell from “rich condition” looked at few randomly selected spark plugs tonight and they are white, burning hot/lean. Coil resistance reads “0.7” on omega setting from multimeter, continuity from coil to through the harness before plugging into the pcm/ecu. Tested coil pigtail while running, have constant 14.0 volts on constant power side, other side, hook test light to battery positive and test light probe goes to other side of the plug, pcm is supposed to send like signal/surges to that side of the plug to create the pulse with to activate coil to ignite/spark the plug. No signal on that side of the plug from pcm though on the few cylinders I checked.
Sensors replaced during this ongoing issue include-
10 coils plugs and boots, 3 fuel pumps, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, mass air flow sensor, throttle position sensor, cylinder head temp sensor, crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, pcv valve, new cat, new O2 sensors, maybe few others I might be forgetting
Haven’t done a knock sensor, idle air control valve, injectors, maybe few others
Im very stumped to this point to why it will not run above 1200 rpm now and not sure what direction I should be going from here.. new pcm, something else I don’t don’t know of maybe someone else does??
Any help or ideas/diagnosis would be very much appreciated
Why did you replace the fuel pump twice when you had a rich condition???
