Hi folks I have not been on for a while , but I thought I would take the opportunity to share my thoughts and prayers with those of you down south that are suffering from the cold weather that is part of normal lives .
Here in Nashville we got some cold temps, freezing rain, and about 6 inches of snow...it's almost 60 degrees today and most of the snow has already melted. I have friends in Texas who have not been so fortunate however. Texans are tough and will pull through this and make the necessary changes to their power grid to ensure that it never happens again...it may still get cold but the power will be on.
Hey Allan,
It's been a long week down here in Texas. You guys probably face
more weather in a week than we'll ever see. We just aren't set up for it -
No Plows, No Salt, No Sand, ....
We got 10 inches of snow followed by a pretty good ice storm a
few days later. The temperatures just dropped off the table & never came
above freezing for 6 days. Coldest it's been here since 1887. The lights went out & the heat.... My neighbors
were heating their houses with their gas ovens - outside temp. of 4 degrees. Water systems then failed when all the pipes
burst around town. The only places with power were near fire stations, hospitals, or rest homes. Austin is a town of close to 2 million
with the suburbs - all going down to the creek or melting snow for water to flush the toilets. Pretty humbling and scary for a state that is awash in
energy.
Neighbors pulled together & we are all coming back to normal now - Water came back for most today, groceries are arriving...
My wife even kicked my nice F1 out into the snow so she could park her car in the nice garage.
