NP435 shifter differences?
I noticed there is a slight difference in shape (bend) between a transmission I have from an '85 and a transmission that I think is earlier than an '85. The '85 unit appears to have two screws that retain the shifter and the other one has a roll pin going through the housing and shifter. Was there something different with the seat shape- bench or buckets, or mounting brackets- that made the shape different? And can the shifters be swapped or is the retainer and shifter itself where it goes into the trans. very different between the two?
Thanks.
Steve
This is the NP435 I installed in the truck with a few more bends I had to add because I have the over drive unit in front of the trans.
The bent stick is 1 way to tell a NP435 from a T18 / T19 trans. I don't know why it was not made like the T18 / T19 sticks?
As for how your stick is in to the tower IIRC mine has 2 pins and the top part pushes down and 1/4 turn to catch on the pins.
The T18 also has 2 pins but think the top screws on.
