4x4

I bought a 93 xlt about a month ago. It didn't come with the owners manual. I don't know how to turn on or use the 4 wheel drive. I've looked on the internet but haven't been able to find the manual online. If someone could tell where to find a manual online or just how to use the 4x4, it would be a big help. Thanks.

To put in 4x4 depends on system that you have. Push button 4hi just push it. 4low put trans. in netral then 4hi,4low. Stick shift put trans. in netral then shift to what setting you want

Well, to use 4X4 just push the button. To use Low Range, put the transmission in neutral the push the Low Range button.

To get out of 4X4 and back into two-wheel drive, just push the button again, and back the truck up 20 feet to fully unlock the hubs.

To get out of Low Range and back into 4X4 or 2WD, put the tranny in Neutral and push the Low-Range button again.

Hope this helps

Do I leave the transmission in neutral when I push the Low Range button, or do I have to shift it?

I got the owners manual for my Mustang this way. It doesn't have one for my '88 Bronco but yours is newer so it might work.
Go to www.ford.com
Click on owners
Click on my vehicles
Click on My Ford
Go through the sign up procedure
Once you're signed up and at your vehicle's home page click on resources and references.
Then select Owner's Guide.

I tried what you said, i put it in nuetral and pushed the 'low range' button, and nothing happened. The light didn't come on and when i let off the gas, it rolled backwards. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is?

the transfer case shift motor could be gone. unless you didn't have it in 4x4 before going in to 4low

Check out the electric motor on the transfer case. It looks like a window motor. When the Broncos arent used in 4wheel drive often enough the motor wont engage. Locate the motor and you will see several screws on it. Loosen the screws and rotate the motor back and forth. This will make the contacts seat in a differant position with less corrosion. This might help if the motor isnt completly gone. A good mechanic did this for me and said after ' You 4 wheel wanna be guys are all the same, you never use 4 wheel drive and then expect it to work when you never use it. Funny thing is I have to do it to mine right now and quess what I almost never use it. lol. Hopefully this forum will get me in the real 4x4 mode. good luck.
Mike
