1. The cylinders number (from the front)
Drivers Side (L/H) 4, 5, 6
Off Side (R/H) 1, 2, 3
2. One would assume that Bank one would be the off-side.
3. There are 2 oxygen sensors in each exhaust side - at front engine pipe and rear. I don't suppose they were kind enough to share the fault codes with you were they? These are specific to a particular sensor.
Thanks, Paul and Mason. Well I took it in, because when the CEL came up this time, their was a loud noise coming from passenger side in the engine. I have driven the car for a hundred miles after replacing the battery, and the CEL is not on, but the noise is still there. Can the misfiring spark plug be the source of that noise. I have decided to change all the sparks plugs instead of just cylinder 3. Should I change the wires too? The truck has 75000 miles on it.
Good decision in changing ALL the plugs. I'd also change the wires. When you are working on the passenger side plugs, it easiest to get to them thru the wheelwell.
I agree with marragtop, change all the plugs and wires since your truck has 75,000 miles. Also, sometimes you can ruin a wire when trying to pull it off to change a plug. Having a set of wires around is always a good idea.
There is a aimple rule of thumb that comes across from this forum - eliminate the simple possibilities first - and then concentrate on the more difficult. I found that the use of a few naughty words, and a few coldies along the way to maintain determination levels provided the best results. When all else fails - there are many good people here that will be pleased to give you a hand. Hang in there buddy - you'll get there. No doubt!
